Getting Lost
Some of the people I know in their 20s say they are lost at some point. They don't know where their career is heading, they don't know if they will ever get married, they don't know if they are living up to other people's expectation. As a result of this, they dive into great depression and gets discouraged from what they see in life. Sometimes, it's okay to get lost. It's a rite of passage that we all have to go through in order to get to the destination that we desire and are meant to be. We might be frustrated because we have not figure things out yet; the word yet however signifies that we have not come to our destination yet but we will. Getting lost is a wake up call to our soul and it tells us what needs to be changed and as the result, we become a new person with a new mindset, ready to tackle what the world gives us. Maybe the purpose of getting lost is not to frustrate us, maybe its purpose is to wake us up from the coma that leaves our life empty. People say it is the not the destination that matters, it is the journey that is worth looking back. So hey it is okay for us to get lost, we should sit back and enjoy the ride because the journey is all that matters in the end.

Believing in the Self
It's easy to say that we believe in ourselves, our ability, our strength, etc. But the question is do we truly believe in ourselves? The only way to test it out is not just saying it but by actually getting out in the real world and experience it. It is tested especially when we run into obstacles in our lives; when we encounter a problem, we either run away from it, hide away from it, or we can trust ourselves and confront it. When we believe in ourselves, we have to acknowledge that it's normal to make mistakes; we will make mistakes on the way to success and it's okay because the purpose of mistakes is to help us learn from them and to become a better person and its goal is to prepare us for the best to come. When we truly believe in ourselves, we can face anything that life gives us and the result is that we will be a stronger and wiser person.

The Right Time
I am single and I used to cringe every time I have to tell other people about the fact and now as I get older, I don't see any point of getting embarrassed about it. People will always have an opinion about me, no matter how bad or good of a person I am, and I discover that listening to other people only leads to an unsatisfying and unwanted life. As I approach my late 20s, my Asian mother, with her broken English, kept asking, "You married yet?" and my answer is always, "I don't know." But recently, I have a different response when my noisy mother asks me the same question for the thousands time: "When the right time come, he will come." To be honest, I don't know if I actually believe it when I first heard it coming out of my mouth but as I continually say it to anyone who ask me the same question, I come to actually believe it. People say that if you don't believe in yourself, just pretend that you do and you will eventually will.
In the similar scenario, I have come to believe the fact too that when the right time comes, my Prince will come. I have dated countless guys and many of them are great men but things never did click. When it comes to experiencing the dating world, there is always trial and error until we understand something. Likewise, dating is the same. We will have to go through some bad and wrong relationships before we land on the right one. We can't rush or force it. The process is a part of life and for the time being, the best we can do is to focus on being the right person and enjoy what we have because when he/she comes, everything will make sense.

A Few Words on Perfection
As a 20 something person, I find myself to fall in the trap of trying to please people just as when I was younger in high school and college. I constantly remind myself that it is not worth it but again and again, I continuously fall for the mistake and as a result, my plan get a detour and I find myself to have a hard time to do what I actually want to accomplish. In the song "Perfect" sang by the Canadian band Simple Plan, the lyrics talk about how perfection is not possible and it retells how he has to please his dad and fails to do so.
In our lives, we all can relate to this predicament; we have the deep desire to please our love ones when we have our own schedule and goals. However, is it possible? Is it even manageable to be perfect? Is it possible to please everyone? No matter what your relationship is with the other person, people will always have an opinion about us: about how we look, the way we dress, the way we live out our lives, the way we carry ourselves, etc. And worse of all we can't avoid it no matter how far we try to run away from it. Maturity comes when we realize perfection is not possible; it comes when we accept our flaws and continue to live and try our very best at life. It is not easy but I find that the more we practice, the more we get better at it, and when we finally acknowledge that perfection is not possible we take life less seriously and best of all, life becomes much more enjoyable.

Pushing On
"There are those who stop and those who pushes on."
Obstacles are in every part of life, no matter where we walk we will run into a rock or two, get tripped over, and eventually hurt. It's life and we will have to get used to it one way or another. There are two actions we can take when we run into a roadblock in life: we either stop or we keep going. When we stop, we let problems take control over us but when we keep going, we take the matters in our control and as a result, we become more confident and more self-assured each day. But pushing on sometimes seem like death is imminent and it may scared us to the point where we see no way we can win the battle. But there is a but in everything in life. But what if we actually are closer to success than we imagine, but what if all we need is that final push to get to that final destination. So you see, everything is possible in life and when we acknowledge that, we keep going, we keep pushing on.

An Encounter
"We will start the beauty chat session momentarily," a Brunette sale
representative at the SpaceNK booth announced to the
group of eager beauty addicts who gathered at the MeetUp session,
ready to meet the two YouTubers they have been following and watching for the past
years. Lily Pebbles and Anna stepped out behind the back room and entered the
shopping area of the meeting place, Lily was wearing a black jump suit from Zara with a
see-through tights, with speckle of poky dots, under the black top of the
outfit; Anna, on the other hand, had a vanilla-colored white dress with ruffles
at the end of the three-quarter sleeves of the knee-length dress and she added a boyish and casual touch to
the outfit by wearing a pair of green-grey ankle-length boots. Each of the two
girls had on foundation and their eye make-up brings out the natural beauty of
their oval and big eyes that many Asian women would do anything to get. Lily and
Anna are British make-up gurus from London and they are known for their make-up and fashion videos
on YouTube.
As I stood waiting to have my turn for the pictures, the butterfly in my stomach revealed itself and I found myself struggling to find words to say to the two girls. After waiting for five to ten minutes watching girls after girls taking pictures of the two ladies, I decided to take the matter in my own hand and jumped in the circle and asked the two ladies to have a picture of me. Politely and with a smile on my face, I sandwiched between Lily and Anna and got a picture of them. I told them that I love Lily's black dress and commented how they look more beautiful in person and they accepted by comments with a genuine smile on their face; Lily was smiling at me as if I was the most important person in the world and I just wanted to hug her and ask her if I could be her friend on Facebook or have her hang out with me if I were ever visiting London.
The best way to understand anything is to learn by doing, actually experiencing it, and getting our hand dirty. Meeting the two girls taught me the importance of being friendly and well-rounded and more importantly it showed how powerful the internet world is and how a click away can bring a group of strangers together. I can spend all day reading about the two make-up gurus and their influence on YouTube but actually standing there and seeing the effect of the internet world on the viewers was astounding and mind-blowing at the same time. The internet connects people from all over the world and brings them to a point in time and everyone is related one way or another, no matter what their gender, religion, and socioeconomic is. Sometimes, in life, we have to experience in order to understand something and when we get it, when we finally see the purpose of a particular interest and action, we are changed forever and we are never the same person again. We become more open-minded and even better, we become a better version of ourselves with the mindset that is open to anything the world gives us.

A Place to Be Yourself
In the recent Ted Talk episode, author and Youtube sensation John Green shared his firm belief in learning and discussed the importance of being in a community that encourages and inspires learning. Mr. Green attended a boarding school where learning was rampant and where everyone was enthused about learning and as a result, he grew a passion for learning; he compared the website Youtube as a channel to a learning community. In addition to writing books, Mr. Green hosts the Youtube channel Mental Floss where he and other hosts talks about different academic topics, using humors and their personal experiences to aid the videos and to attract viewers.
As humans, we want to fit in and be a part of a community that accepts us; we are social beings who love to relate to other humans and who love to connect with other people and best of all, we want to be in a community where we can be our true self. For instance, millions of college graduates join the website MeetUp where members invite each other to events and many long-term friendships have formed from the meetings and hangouts of the website. Sometimes, material goods do not satisfy us because they are not meant to be; they are just supplements to the important elements that can only fulfill us; one of the important element in our lives is being a part of a community. Those of us who have being a member of a church, clubs, school, sport teams, etc know how it feels like to be living in those groups; first of all, a community gives us a sense of our self. We know ourselves by receiving the response from other people and more importantly, we grow as a person when we get and understand other people's reaction toward our behaviors, whether it is good or bad reactions.
One downside is that sometimes the community can be more of a hindrance than any help, especially when the time for us to leave the group has arrived and when we are meant to look for another community to be a part of since we have out grown the group and its missions are no longer aligned with our goals in life. However, many people can testify that they have joined a community that has helped them grow in their walk in life. Youtubers, or also known as people who make YouTube videos, for instance, claimed the Youtube community gives them their identity and worth that no other community, or even their family, can. And many people are still on a search to find that right community to help them grow. Whether you are a part of a community or not, it is never to late to let your guard down, take chances, and search for one group that would help your personal growth. In the end, the purpose of life is not to amass material goods in life, the purpose of life is to live a purposeful one and a community can be the catalyst that helps us walk toward that life we are meant to live.
